For anyone interested, I set up a Flickr set of title art from Miyazaki’s Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea. Obviously, it’s just not the same as seeing it in motion, but I love the color and the form. ハム!

With so much sophistication in so few lines, the work of designer Noma Bar is sublime.
Bar’s work is also available in a new book, Negative Space, from Mark Batty Publisher. The book contains many full-page illustrations from Bar’s portfolio, as well as spreads from his sketchbook.

Mano del Desierto (Hand of the Desert) is an 11-meter-tall hand protruding from the Chilean Atacama Desert. Native sculptor Mario Irarrázabal completed the monument in 1992.
Check out the Flickr search results for Mano del Desierto.
Also, if you haven’t yet browsed the most excellent Atlas Obscura, you should.

Wonderful images of the Siberian Lake Baikal by photographer Matthieu Paley.
Paley’s work was featured in Serko, a book (and film) telling the true story of equestrian Dmitri Peshkov and his horse, Serko. The duo rode 200 days and 9,000 kilometers from Blagoveshchensk, Siberia, to Saint Petersburg, Russia, 1889-1890.
Paley recounts his experience to Outside Magazine.
